11 students (9 from UCR and 2 from UCLA) traveled to Sacramento, CA, where they met with legislators and delivered policy pitches at a Science to Policy poster session. Over the course of the two-day trip, students met with over 15 legislative offices from the California State Assembly and California State Senate to discuss policy ideas and advocate for the importance of sound science in policy making. Students met with California Council on Science and Technology Fellowship directors. Students also visited the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA), where Assistant Secretary for Equity and Environmental Justice Moisés Moreno-Rivera and Dr. Jennifer Norris the Assistant Secretary for Biodiversity and Habitat gave insight on the importance of science policy at the CNRA.
